Skipton Weather Forecast Provided by BBC Met Office Weather in Skipton

My thanks to Paul Chattwood, Yorkshire Dales Public Transport Users Group, for information about travel and bus services in the area.

CragFace says : -

"Be prepared for all eventualities. Weather can be extremely changeable and what looks like a fine day below, can be harsh and extreme further up the hill." ...he recommends the following precautions...

  • Wear appropriate footwear, and always carry a waterproof top and overtrousers.
  • Carry a map and compass, and be able to use them.
  • As a precaution, carry a torch, whistle, some food and water.
  • Especially on long walks, try not to go alone, and always leave word of your proposed route
  • In an Emergency, dial 999 or Skipton Police and request Fell Rescue.

Although public footpaths are wonderfull - walking on some dales roads are dangerous. You could get killed. The same goes for some rivers. Take care. Respect local customs, particularly when walking through farmland or forest. Please follow the country code when walking in Britain.

The Country Code

  • Enjoy the countryside and respect its life and work.
  • Guard against all risks of fire.
  • Fasten all gates (in Scotland, leave all gates as you find them)
  • Keep your dogs under close control.
  • Keep to public paths across farmland.
  • Use gates and stiles to cross fences, hedges and walls.
  • Leave livestock, crops and machinery alone.
  • Take your litter home.
  • Help to keep all water clean.
  • Protect wildlife, plants and trees.
  • Take special care on country roads.
  • Make no unnecessary noise.

Whilst every effort is made to ensure accuracy, there may be changes made to gates, pathways, and land which is beyond the control of the author of these walks.
He did his best!
