Distance: About 5 Miles
Time: About 2 hours
Height: Not a lot, fairly level
Difficulty: Easy Peasy
Scenery: Water, Tributaries, Wildfowl, Quiet. Good Free Parking with Picnic Facilities, and clean toilets, ironically, without tap water!
Location: Start at SE 064640
Maps: Hardly needed? OS Map: Outdoor Leisure 10 - Yorkshire Dales South

Toilets are at the Start

1

Head right of the car park, (East) away from the toilet block, heading uphill towards this gateway.

Squeeze through the metal barrier over on the right. (See picture)

Walk up the main track then take the trail on the left, downhill towards the reservoir.
You can continue the roadway as it joins up again, but you will miss the scenery.

2

You will notice the Yacht Club over and down on the left.

Continue forward and cross over this single file bridge. (See picture)

Just follow the pathway.

3

At this thatched cottage, you must veer left as the track takes it's first corner.

(See picture)

4

Another single file bridge. (See picture) Then uphill for a short while.

Hardly Everest, but beware of mud along this two mile stretch.

5
Eventually you arrive at this wood edifice, go left, (See picture) cross the water and continue the pathway.
6
Further along yet, another tributary and bridge to cross. (See picture)
7

You will meet a turn left at SE 0511 6475. This brings you closer to the reservoir. Take it, and wander till a wood gate and stile. Cross over the stile right of the wood gate.

You are now walking with the man made black blocks on your left alongside the reservoir. Keep a look out, left. (See picture) for porpoise, whale and squid? (You won't see any, but you can but hope :)

8
Half a mile on, your view to the right; is this. (See picture)
9

Here is the plughole. The closer you get, the weirder it looks. (See picture)

Pass this on your left and go through the gate ahead. Turn left.

Walk uphill: probably the hardest part of the whole walk, back to the car park.
