Start here !1. As you come down into Pateley Bridge, on the B6265 heading East, park on the right, opposite the park, just before the bridge. Or, go over the bridge turning right, then park in one of two, pay and display car parks by the riverside. Start your walk here (picture, looking back) with the river on your right, and walk away from the bridge, on the riverside pathway signposted to Glasshouses. Walk through here2. For about a mile keep the river to your right, passing a private bridge, and later, a man-made lake on your right.
On reaching a minor road, turn right, going over a bridge. Take the left hand fork of this road and turn right up the track, past Low Fold Cottages.
At this point (picture) continue along the well used lane.
Head for the woods3. Cross at this small wooden stile, (pictured) and follow the path to it's end. Go over the stone steps, and turn right, then follow the path through the woods. It is important to keep to the main path now. Stay with the widest path and always head uphill. Don't get lost!4. You will come upon a track, half way up the hill at right angles ...take the left path...(after picture) always heading upwards... not long after, the path swerves off to the right, do not take the left path...continue uphill.
You will pass lots of scenery like this (click on picture). Eventually, after a few bends, you find the pathway leveling out. Be thankfull for the rest.
Time to take a break : )5. You may notice the telecommunications mast up there on your right about now? That's where you're heading! Follow the path going up, pass an open metal bar gate over on the left prior to this point (see picture) stop and turn around to contemplate the view. (click on this picture for a wide-angle view taken in January) A very high stile here6. Finally reaching the top, cross over the seven stepped wood stile (pictured) to the left of the mast. Beware of slippy stones here.
Ignore the path to the left and straight on...go forward 10 yards then turn right... we are going to go behind the mast...and continue the path that abuts close to the drystone wall. (Keep it on your right) Move forward now on this single pathway.
Stile with a view7. The rest of the walk is fairly straightforward. Keep to the path and enjoy the view (or not if you are scared of heights !!!) over on the right.
Cross over this (pictured) four stepped wooden stile. (Access to the edge is always available for worthwhile views, but is not recomended!)
Be warned!!
Head for the stile in the distance8. Follow the pathway. This picture shows the worst of the muddy areas, but can be traversed by keeping close to the six foot wall over on your right.
Go over that stile (pictured) in the distance.
On to the Twin Towers ?9. After a short time, you will eventually see Yorke's Folly. Wander down to the wall, and cross at this (pictured) five stepped wood stile, turning left and going past the folly on your left, and following the obvious path away from it downhill.
(Click on the picture for a full view of the Folly)

Alternate Car Park10. Keep to the path heading for the road ahead. (pictured) and cross the road.
Notice that space is available here at SD 156637 as alternative parking.
Go through the metal kissing gate, and head down in the direction of the PF sign.
(You can visit Crocodile Rock from here if you go sharp right just inside the kissing gate!)

Beware the top rung !11. Eventually coming to this wood stepped stile... (be wary of the top step!!)... cross and enter Strikes Wood.
Follow the path on, and downhill.

There and back again12. You will reach this single wood stepped stile. Cross and follow the barely visible pathway forward and down to the road. Once on the road, turn left and head for Bewerley and Pateley Bridge, (signposted) via a stone bridge.
