Aysgarth village is on the main road towards Wensleydale, on the A684, and has little in itself.. However, over half a mile to the East, near the Youth Hostel and Church, is a short, steep hill which descends to the river. The National Park Information Centre and car park, is the best place to park. The main attraction is undoubtedly Aysgarth Force, where the River Ure, tumbles and falls over a series of broad, shallow terraces for over a mile.

The Upper Falls, easily seen from the bridge and roadside, have the most beautiful setting; to view the Middle and Lower Falls, - the most dramatic you need to follow public footpaths, both gentle and well signposted, through the Wood.
Recent improvements to these, and the construction of a viewing platform by Lower Falls, make it possible for disabled visitors in wheelchairs to appreciate the scene. Below Aysgarth bridge, which was widened by John Carr in 1788, is Yore Mill. Built between 1784-85 as a corn mill, its roomy interior housed the Coach and Carriage Museum. Above the mill St Andrew's church is mainly a reconstruction of 1866, and its 4'/z-acre churchyard indicating earlier importance as the mother church for the whole of upper Wensleydale.
