Getting to Skipton

By Car

The map at the bottom of this page shows major road links to Skipton. We are about 12 miles from the end of the M65, which terminates in Colne. If you are coming from the Leeds direction, then you'd be better off coming through Otley on the A65 than the Keighley way, it's a nicer road, and has a lot less traffic. The main (pay) car parks in Skipton are:

High St, behind the Town Hall
Coach St
Cavendish St
at the bus station, on Keighley Rd
at the railway station, on Broughton Rd

There are also large free car parks for customers at Morrisons, Tesco, and Focus.

By Train

Skipton train station has connections to Leeds and Bradford, to Morecambe on the west coast, and onto the Settle to Carlisle line. Try the National Rail Enquiries website for information and timetables.

By Bus

National Express www.nationalexpress.co.uk run buses direct from London Victoria Bus station to Skipton. The whole trip takes about 5 hours or so. First Leeds www.firstleeds.co.uk run buses between Skipton and West Yorkshire. Regular buses also run to Skipton from Grassington, Buckden, Bolton Bridge, Harrogate, Keighley, Burnley, Malham and Settle. By Boat

If you're planning to come to Skipton by boat, we have to assume that you already know what you are doing. But here's a link to British Waterways anyway.

Local Taxi companies

There are 5 taxi firms in Skipton. They all have cars with Hackney Carriage plates on the rear, drivers wearing ID badges issued by the local council, and meters that run at the same rate. Unless you've arrived at a really bad time, there will always be cars waiting on all three official taxi ranks:
