Exotic SpeciesSeptember 2003 It always amazes me just how attractive and colourful some animals can be. I suppose that's what draws people into keeping exotic animals. Certainly when photographing them I was awe struck by their strangeness, and in some instances, their potential dangerousness. There is now a growing trend towards getting an exotic animal, rather
than your 'normal' cat, or puppy...I only hope that if they do aquire
them...people will treat them with respect, and won't get bored with it
after a few months.

But is having an exotic species a good idea? For the average (and even the person who thinks he or she may be above average) individual, no, it is not.
Best to leave many exotics to the wilds and the zoos.
