  • I wonder what that old green Witch 'Grotbags' is doing nowadays. (Anyone not in their twenties might not know who Grotbags was).

    HOWIE
  • Theres somebody at the door....theres somebody at the door.....theres somebody at the door...... aaaah, images of rod hull skipping across the floor to let grotbags in, its all coming back now!!

Howie, what on earth made you think of that?

    shelle
  • The last time I saw Grotbags was at a BP petrol garage near Thirsk. She pulled in front of me in a shoe shaped car. When I asked about her career implosion, she responded with 'ew I'll throw in some flies and be gone with you evil children'. Some people are just poor communicators.
  • Me and my mate was proper trashed one night and we saw her in a pub in Manchester this is not a joke honest it was proper rare man. We talked to her for ages she is a total loon.
  • I'm sure her sister 'gasbag' lived next door to us when I was little.... well thats what my mum used to call her, she was always hanging over the front gate talking to everyone that walked past....her facial features were very similar...
so she must have been related.....

    fairy nuff ; P
  • Yeah, shelle I was just looking back to childrens entertainment from when I was younger and Grotbags was one of the more prominent. Also, do we remember Knightmare (on CITV). I actually auditioned for that show.. didn't get through though. I did see the guy who played 'Hordris the Confuser' though :-)

    HOWIE
  • howie, they play re-runs of knightmare on challenge (cable) my son loves it!...is it just me or were kids programs so much better then?

oh im all nostalgic now....lets have an 80's and 90's thread, il start it off and we'll see how much we can remember...

80's, ford capris, mc hammer pants, grange hill, krypton factor, ra ra skirts and pedal pushers

    shelle

  • Remember Button Moon? That's one that is lesser celebrated. Everyone remembers Rainbow because it has been re-franchised in recent times. What about Wizbit. I seem to remember, he was shunned by schools and stuff, because of his resemblance to the KKK outfit.

    HOWIE
  • Jonny ball....didnt he do 'why dont you' as well?

And who was the guy that used to talk over the footage of animals, cant remember the name of the show, but he had white hair....was it animal magic....yes a brain would be nice round about now!

    Remember Playaway with Brian Cant?
  • That 'fat thing' was called Hamble, not Hannah
  • Grotbags was so scary! I remember it well, the thing that scared me was the weird thing that sat in the couldron! That scared the hell outta me! It looked like a gremlin with serious acne or sumthin!

  • I toured with "The Grotbags Show" for four years as well as appearing in my very first Pantomime with her ("Oh Yes I Did!") Carol was a scream to work with, lots of fun and never had a bad word to say to us "grown ups!"

The nicest and most generous person in showbusiness that I ever met. Now, I really must call her and say "there's paddy kane at the door" - haven't spoken for ages .. . .

  • I met Carol AKA Grotbags when I stayed on her Caravan site near Bridgewater. She is probably the one of the most wonderful human beings I have ever met. She made the group of 13 of us so welcome and told us so many fantastic stories of her career. I will be back to visit her on my next trip to the west country.
