Chapel Hill Festival of Speed4 Aug 2002 The 2nd Chapel Hill Festival of Speed was a great success, with weather settled and clear almost all through the day. There was a road show courtesy of Fresh AM, a charity auction, displays of classic cars and sports cars, steam traction engine rides, various stalls and a barbeque. The soapbox racing was exciting, with everyone striving to beat last years record of time set by 'the Mouse'. Tim Denton's unfortunate crash put him straight into a wall, and left him in hospital overnight, nursing a cracked rib. Next day he signed up again for next year. The eventual winner (senior class) was Otway's Hit Squad Special, driven by Andrew Scull in 1min 7secs. Classic and sports cars on display included Bentley, Jaguar D- type and E-type, Morris Cowley, MG, Lancia Integrale, Noble M12. This regular event raises money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
