Buck Inn - Sponsored Skydive
June/July 2005
Monday 20th June saw Juli, Claire and Kathy from the Buck Inn Malham
jump out of a plane at 14,000ft with nothing but a parachute. Since February
of this year the girls have been raising money for a well known charity–
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance. After three days of travel to and from North
West Parachute Centre(Grange Over Sands) the girls finally jumped on a
beautiful sunny day without a cloud in the sky, with the views reaching
all the way to Blackpool.
The idea was Claire's, it has been a wish of hers for sometime now, and
what better than to raise money for a worthy charity. After plenty of
research the girls put their mark on £3,000 as this is approximately
the amount needed each day to the run the service.
With help from two Air Ambulance fundraisers, the girls held a race night,
which brought in over £700 towards their funds.
The remainder came from local residents and hotel guests staying at their
hotel. The girls also received donations from many local breweries –
Theakston’s, Timothy Taylors and Copper Dragon, also local suppliers
to The Buck Inn.
Once the girls touched the ground, they decided to present their ‘Big
Cheque’ to The head of fundraising at Air Ambulance – Mr Bob
Smailes at Malhamdale Ball held on Friday 8th July.
The Girls amazed everyone as well as themselves by raising an astonishing
£4,000, well over the girls aim!
Once again Juli, Claire and Kathy would like to give a big thanks to
everyone who promised and donated.
Thank you so much.
Juli.
