In the year 2000, Craven Voluntary Action was awarded a grant by the Local Heritage Initiative to undertake a reminiscence project in the Craven area. Volunteers were enlisted to interview and record local residents’ memories of their life in Craven over the last century and this exhibition shows extracts of those interviews. It is important to preserve our local heritage in this way, as many of the people featured in this book worked in the mills and lived in areas of housing that no longer exist. So to capture those memories for future generations to enjoy, this exhibit has been mounted, and a booklet produced for sale, priced £2, available in the Museum. The full transcripts and tapes have been lodged with Craven Museum in Skipton.
