Freedom March - the Dukes

Saturday 20th July 2002 saw the 'Freedom March' a celebration marking the 300th anniversary of the Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Around 200 Dukes troops marched through the centre of Skipton, supported by the Corps of Drums and the King's Division Normandy Band, and were then officially granted the Freedom of Craven District.

Major General Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter received a scroll granting the freedom from Councillor Ken Hart. There was a speech by Concillor Andrew Rankine, the Mayor of Skipton.
